A gift for me…. What a treat! Well... maybe I’m not that lucky but sure felt like it unboxing this beauty, packaging gets two thumbs up. When you first open up you are greeted with a seriously gorgeous device – stunning high polish gun-metal sleek vape pen, drooling before I even got to the best part.

Here's my Puffco Plus review for all of our wax and oil aficionados!

puffco-plus-with-boxLet’s see what’s inside the box: aside from the complete Puffco + vape pen, a capped replacement chamber that has a silicone sleeve on it, which can be used should you find the pen gets too hot on the outside after a few consecutive sessions and although I did find that the pen got very warm I did not feel the need to use the silicone sleeve. You are given 4 cleaning swabs, a USB charger and an easy to read, clear instructional manual as well as a warranty card for you to activate. What I didn’t find was a carry case, not that this is an issue but I sure liked the carry case they present with the Puffco Pro2.

So after making sure the device was charged and ready, the testing began…puffco-plus-oil-vape-pen

The design on the Puffco Plus is certainly a winner: the New York based Puffco calls it a ‘pocket nail’ and I would say that it does indeed live up to my expectations. Physically the Plus is ever so slightly heavier and only 1cm taller than the brushed steel Pro2 version, the polished gun-metal finish and pocket nail design rocks and while you might think that with this high polish finish, smudge marks and fingerprints will show up, well….they don’t. On/off and temperature control happens through the sexy-looking cloud-shaped button: the usual 5 clicks for on/off and 4 clicks to toggle through the 3 heat settings. 2 clicks to activate Puffco’s famous Sesh Mode on your favorite temperature.

On the bottom of the battery, the cloud LED light that changes its colour as the temp setting you are on, a feature I’m not too crazy about, but it’s a nice touch.
The all-ceramic conduction chamber combined with a mouth piece that houses a removable ceramic loading tool (Dart) and convection cap makes this vape pen work effectively, as it was designed to work like a dabbing nail you can guarantee tasty clouds hit after hit.

Like smoking a cigar, I found this device to be more comfortable for men, as it is slightly bulkier and has a bigger mouth piece than the Pro2, the Plus hits like a beast! The coil free chamber ensures you get the purest flavour and massive clouds.

For the test, we started her up on low and after a few draws of seriously tasty vapour we needed to load her up again – at 1st we thought not too economically but then later realised that although it’s a large chamber we got continuous vapour for more draws than we could handle… After 4 draws or so the device was a little on the warm side however vapour was smooth, still plenty of taste and still very cool. On the high temperature setting I was surprised to see that 12+ draws later the vapour production was still very good as was the flavour – no stale after burn taste at all, at this point I found it to be a little harsh but still cool enough to enjoy!

As far as cleaning and maintenance goes this one is really simple, Puffco recommends removing any residue left in chamber after your session by simply removing the mouthpiece and heating her up twice on high sesh mode holding her upside down – this will clear away excess residue, to avoid spill out/run through from happening, as this is a delicate self-cleaning chamber don’t put any foreign objects into the chamber and DO NOT even use alcohol inside the chamber. This is a sealed chamber free of coils, fibers, plastics and wires there is no need to clean out the chamber, 2 days after the test I grabbed the Plus and had a pull, I did not add any fresh oil – there was still a considerably large amount of vapor and boy it tasted just as yummy as it did on the day of testing!

Charge time is 1.5 – 2hours and a full charge should give you 50+ hits of tasty vapour! But I must be honest I have yet been able to test the battery life to the fullest.

One design flaw I did notice and it’s not a biggy, the mouthpiece screws off, unlike the pop off mouthpiece on the Pro2, the thread at first seemed slightly too sharp then noticed afterwards that it gets oily quickly from the oil fumes making it harder to close – the screwing of the mouthpiece could be a bit smoother or better yet be a pop off.

As this is an “all ceramic chamber” and ceramic has a lower thermal conductivity, this combined with the large oven; evenly heating the bowl is not going to be easy however they did a pretty good job with this one and set a benchmark for the rest!

My final thoughts on the Puffco Plus; Well done Puffco, this truly is a win. I like the design and especially the coil free chamber!
